Dare to Wear Linen

Summer is fast approaching and with these beautiful 20 + degree days, I am already looking forward to wearing my all-time summer favourite – LINEN!

There are SO many benefits to wearing linen. Not only is this fabric super CHIC, it is extremely breathable, highly absorbent, which allows airflow and the best part about that – no sweat patches! Linen is a natural fabric that is light and doesn’t irritate sensitive skin – talk about a magic fabric, right?!

I saw these fab linen shorts in store and just had to have them! I paired the shorts with a V-neck striped tee, both from Penningtons, for a comfy and casual look. I love these two pieces together because they are airy and don’t cling to the skin. Another bonus about these bottoms is the elastic waistband! Whether you are heading to the mall, a BBQ with friends, or grabbing drinks on a patio, this outfit will keep you looking fabulous and feeling cool (literally) at all times!

For a different look I paired the same linen shorts with a tank top and block heels for a date or a night on the town with the girls. In my opinion, this look is sexy, and effortless – all the while keeping it fresh for the summer heat coming our way!

Another benefit to these great linen pieces is that wearing linen allows you to feel 3-4 degrees cooler than wearing cotton – just because the fabric is so breathable and fresh! What is not to love about that? These shorts are a total staple for this summer and many, many summers to come! Linen is very durable and I know these will last me season after season.

There are so many amazing linen looks in store right now! It was so hard to choose only one outfit. My next linen purchases are definitely these striped capris with the white linen blouse, seen below and modelled by the gorgeous Meredith Shaw. This outfit would be perfect for the office, and a night out! I would also change up the look by adding a form fitting top with the capris and a blazer for variety! As you can tell – I am looking forward to my next trip to Penningtons!
