I don’t know about you, but in my opinion the hardest part about the changing seasons is when I have to stop wearing some beloved pieces. Until I am ready to say goodbye to those pieces, I like to find new ways that will help make the transition less painful and give me a few more good wears out of those cheery summer items.
Layering is always a great idea when the leaves begin to change, however there are so many more options than just tossing on a cardigan! My favorite layering pieces tend to be sleeveless garments that I style by wearing longer sleeved tops or dresses underneath. This long tweed vest will not only keep you toasty, but with its pockets and lapels it adds a tailored look to any flowy or more casual piece from your summer wardrobe.
Denim jackets are always a staple for fall. They are the easiest way to add a layer to a dress or a summer tee. You can even try the denim-on-denim trend by wearing a denim jacket with a pair of jeans! A quick tip is to just be aware of the wash of denim—what I suggest is wearing different washes, instead of head-to-toe in the same wash.
A black camisole is a basic every woman should have in their wardrobe, especially as we shift into autumn. Swapping out a bright colour for black is the easiest way to change your seasonal colour palette, and will give a new found life to your summer bottoms and blazers. This layering essential will have you covered until it’s time to swap the light cardigans for the chunky knits.
