It might be hard to believe, but the holiday season is already upon us. That means attending all the festive parties that come with the time of year, making it the perfect season to glam it up and have some fun!
This includes accessories and for myself, that means jazzing up my nails too! I am an avid fan of nail art. Getting something sparkly or festive on my nails definitely gets me in the holiday spirit!
To all of you DIY experts out there, I applaud you… I can barely paint my nails without getting it all over myself, so forget trying to paint a design. Instead, I have a long term relationship with my nail technician Dave. Recently I sat down with Dave to show you some of the top trends right now in holiday nail art.
First we started with choosing a colour; we were all about this rich red. Of course, you can also choose something less traditional like a soft pink or cool blue. Choose something that makes you happy! Nail art should be fun and reflect your personality. I asked Dave to do a simple snowflake design because it’s one of my favourites. I love that it is a subtle nod to the season.
I then asked him to bring out the glitz and sparkle! If you love sparkles (or you just like wearing black head to toe but want a little glitter in your life), nail art like this is the perfect addition to your outfit.
We went with a statement nail on my ring finger, it’s completely dipped in rose gold sparkle powder. Another option is to add some 3D charms like the stars on my middle finger. Finally we decided to be adventurous and try REAL GOLD! This gold foil scattered over my index finger is a current trend and really brings out those holiday vibes.
So ladies, will you dare to try some nail art this holiday season?
Special thanks to Dave Lam, owner of Crystal Nail Spa here in Burlington ON for helping me with this post, and for always keeping my nails looking fantastic.
For some inspiration please check out my nail art pages on Pinterest. I have a special board just for holiday nail art and you will also find easy how to videos on Pinterest for those who like the DIY option.
