Dressing to flatter your figure doesn’t have to be frustrating if you know your body type. The classic body type descriptions are an apple, a pear, a banana or an hourglass. Lets start with the apple shape. If you have a classic apple shape, you are endowed with a full bosom and a round tummy, and generally you are slight in the hips with great legs. In order to determine if this is your body type I need you to start by checking your beautiful self out in a full length mirror. If you now define yourself as an apple body type, the tips below are just for you.
For the apple body type finding the right tops and blouses are key to creating an illusion of a defined waist. I suggest looking for blouses, tunics and soft t-shirts with strategic draping and seaming. Look for tops that gently silhouette your figure, and stay away from anything that is too voluminous or too tight. Peasant tops and v-neck t-shirts that have subtle structure are also very flattering for the apple body type. You want to be able to look in the mirror and look good from every angle.
When getting dressed for work you want to look modern and polished. If you normally wear pant suits to work, look for a suit with a jacket that has princess seaming in the back. Princess seams are two vertical seams on each side of the back of the jacket. Also make sure that the jacket hits you right at your hip. The combination of the two will elongate your figure and give your waist more definition. If you are a girl that loves a dress, look for v-neck, empire waist dresses with an a-lined bottom. This will give you a more steamlined appearance and flair on the bottom will help to balance your upper body. Lastly, don’t forget to wear the proper shapewear to give yourself support where you need it most.
Finding the perfect jeans doesn’t have to be stressful. Look for jeans that have a high waist and boot cut legs. The higher waist will give the control that you need in your tummy and the boot cut will balance your figure. Wearing jeans that are a darker shade of blue is also a more flattering hue for you.
